The moment has come that I’ve been dreading for the past four weeks. My husband is starting his emergency medicine rotation tomorrow. A little back story for you: he’s been hanging out with me for the last four weeks because he’s essentially been “doing research” and going on residency interviews. It’s been good and bad. On the one hand, he’s been home to help with the boys a ton, and it’s been amazing to have the ability to run out by myself when I’ve needed to. On the other hand, he’s been home. A ton.
Today I did not wake up on the right side of the bed. And I didn’t wake up on the right side of the bed yesterday either. In fact, I’ve been in a royally unpleasant mood since Tuesday, if you really want to know the truth.
Anyone who has ever met me knows that I am one of the biggest college football fans that ever lived– for a girl, anyways. There have been a few times in my life where I probably behaved poorly because I am just that emotionally invested in college football. Specifically my Alabama Crimson Tide. Y’all. Why does Alabama have to play Clemson for the national championship? AGAIN. For those of you that don’t know how deliciously awkward this is for me, let me just put this out there again. I went to school at Clemson. Graduated with my B.S. in Biological Sciences (#nerd). But my parents raised me to be an Alabama fan. That probably contributes to some of the crazy– I’m sure I’ve got some kind of a complex. Continue reading “Bama vs. Clemson: the Sequel. Totes Awk.”
One of the perks of being a SAHM (who is never actually at home, but that’s a story for another day), is that I get to tag along with Matt for his residency interviews. I mentioned that in my last post.
Usually this means I would be satisfied with sitting in the hotel room catching up on
email/life in general while watching reality TV. After all, those are things I almost never get to do because my days are usually spent wrangling toddlers; and my nights are usually spent doing family things and catching my husband up on the day’s events. Continue reading “After Party Sale 2017”
I am sitting here typing this from a nice comfy bed in a hotel room with some good old Vanderpump Rules (trashy but amazing) a la Bravo TV playing in the background. I’m totally in my element. The hubs and I are in Greenville, SC interviewing at yet another residency program. We’ve totally gotten the hang of this– I’ve practically gotten it down to a science at this point. Drop the kids off with the grandparents (so grateful for our families, their proximity to us, and their willingness to help us out), drive to our destination, hubs goes to dinner with the other residents while I stay in the room and enjoy some alone time, rinse, and repeat. Hey y’all! Sorry I’ve been so radio silent this week. I’ve been redesigning the Dixie Belle Mommy and getting my life organized so that–God willing– I can grow this little blog and reach as many mommies and women as I can.
At first, I started this as an outlet for myself after losing my sweet baby James. For those of you that don’t know, I miscarried our third baby boy at 20 weeks due to an incompetent cervix this past October. Needless to say, I was a complete wreck for a little while. This blog was born out of that experience because I had to believe that something (anything) good and meaningful could come from losing my child. There had to be a reason. I just didn’t know what it was at the time. You see, I have always been a firm believer that God will not give you more than you can handle. Continue reading “New Year’s Mission Statement”
So I just did a massive photo dump on Facebook– and I apologize for blowing up everyone’s feed with a million and one pictures of my November and December. But it had to be done. Lord knows I’m not one to take the time to back up my phone or use the Cloud or whatever the tech-savvy people do. I thought I was all good with my 120GB iPhone, but apparently 27,000 pictures and a few apps and a couple thousand songs combined is enough to cause you to “run out of storage.” Lame. Total first world problems over here. Continue reading “Sometime’s a Girl’s Just Gotta do What a Girl’s Gotta Do”
Merry Christmas everyone! I hope everyone had a fabulous Christmas– I hope that each and every one of you got to spend enough time with your families and loved ones to last you until next Christmas. Just kidding. If there’s one thing I’ve realized over the past couple of years, there’s no such thing as too much (or even enough) time with family. Time spent with family is time well spent, in my book. Continue reading “Christmas Roundup”
I know it’s Tuesday– my bad! I figured since I posted my weekend recap in the wee hours of Monday morning, it would be considered over-posting if I had posted my Momiform Monday post on the same day, so I saved it for y’all. Continue reading “Momiform Monday, issue 4”
